Friday, June 7, 2024 – Belgian DJ and producer Samm is rapidly emerging as one of the most captivating artists in the electronic music scene. Known for his warm and feel-good blend of melodic techno and afro house with a touch of soul, Samm has garnered support from industry heavyweights like Adriatique, CamelPhat, and Keinemusik. His performances at renowned festivals, including Tomorrowland, have cemented his reputation for delivering unforgettable sets. Here he teams up with Ajna for a club-ready edit of Hakim’s 'Ah Ya Albi'.

Ajna has simply burst into the house and techno scene. His passion for bringing people together and creating unforgettable experiences ignited his love for electronic music. His sets feature a mix of afro house and melodic house/techno tunes, building up to an emotional journey.

Together they have crafted an uplifting, afro-house leaning club edit of 'Ah Ya Albi', preserving much of the traditional elements of the original while making it punchy enough for modern dancefloors.

Born in Maghagha, a small town in Minya, Egypt, in 1962, Hakim grew up surrounded by the sound of Sha’bi. Influenced by some of the great Sha’bi singers, Hakim practiced Mawals, the vocal improvisations which begin a song, and which have become his trademark over the years.

The original song 'Ah Ya Albi' is a vibrant collaboration between Egyptian singer Hakim and Puerto Rican artist Olga Tañón. The title translates to 'Oh My Heart' in English, and the lyrics are a mix of Arabic and Spanish, reflecting the blend of cultures and musical styles. The song speaks of longing, regret, and the desire for reconciliation after a separation caused by misunderstandings.

The Arabic parts of the song, sung by Hakim, express the pain of love and the wounds that come with it. The song also touches on themes of cultural identity and the struggle of love across distances.
