Oscar and the Wolf announces new album ‘TASTE’

The album, which includes previous singles 'Warrior', 'Angel Face', 'Somebody Without U' and 'Oh Boy', will arrive on October 25th

Monday, September 9, 2024 – Oscar and the Wolf – the project of Belgian artist Max Colombie – has announced its fourth album TASTE. The album, which includes previous singles 'Warrior', 'Angel Face', 'Somebody Without U' and 'Oh Boy', will arrive on October 25th via Sony Music.

TASTE takes Colombie’s quest for vulnerability up a notch and then some. This collection of songs stretches the project’s vast polarities to a whole new stratosphere; a sweeping cinematic chronology of a slow descent from euphoria to destruction. We chase Colombie from a radiant oceanside view into the bottomless abyss. And no stone is left unturned.

“I used to see myself as a character in scenarios that didn't really exist,” Colombie says. “Now, my work is all really autobiographical. I don't want to become the face of mental illness, but I do want to be a voice of awareness. I wasn't being honest; for example, I kept quiet about the fact that I was gay for a long time. I wasn't honest with my audience. People always needed to see that I'm larger than life. People needed to see me as if I'm invincible. People needed to see the luxury. The real boy beneath was not happy with the luxury. The real boy was having a hard time, and luxury didn't make me happy. What makes me happy is love and safety. Up till now, that search was counterbalanced because I tend to be an obstacle to myself. That's basically what happened. So TASTE has become very much a therapeutic album for me.”

Since Oscar and the Wolf’s inception, Colombie has crafted a well-honed balance between dark and light – forging a highly distinct blend of club music, cutting-edge pop and hot-blooded R&B. Spearheaded by his albums Entity (2014), Infinity (2017) and Shimmer (2021), the project flourished into a critically- acclaimed arena-selling tour de force.

For his long-awaited debut headline slot at Dour Festival and Lokerse Feesten, Oscar and the Wolf introduced a spectacular live production as an extension of TASTE, with brand new choreography and stage design. “I want to tell the story on stage,” Colombie says. “What I don't want to do anymore is what I've been doing for the past 10 years: end with “Fever”, everyone goes home in this euphoric state. I really want to introduce a different feeling. I want to make people feel things a bit like you would in a movie, something more than just doing a concert. A story based performance, using transitions. Everyone said to me, Don't do that’ because you're going to end up shooting yourself in the foot. Giving people a show with a dark message attached to it, that's really dangerous. But I really believe that I have to do that, because I think that life is more than just euphoria. And live shows can also be more than that.”

Recently, Oscar and the Wolf announced three more arena shows at the beginning of 2025 – 14 and 15 March (sold out) at Sportpaleis, and 20 March at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome. For the most recent information on live dates, visit https://oscarandthewolf.com/tour.

About Oscar and the Wolf
As the creative entity behind Oscar and the Wolf, Max Colombie prowls somewhere in-between the familiar emotions. It made the Belgian artist a true rarity amongst other arena-selling peers: a magnetic performer who can somehow embody his most vulnerable and grandiose self within a single moment.

Colombie has maintained Oscar and the Wolf’s well-honed balance between dark and light – within his unique blend of club music, cutting-edge pop and hot-blooded R&B. After signing with Sony, Oscar and the Wolf enters a new phase, one where Colombie fearlessly courts the imperfections of the person beneath the spectacle, taking his craft into more autobiographical directions.
